Keep Walking

Keep Walking – October News

There are challenging times ahead, with the threat of lockdown in Redbridge and the national restriction of only six people allowed to meet outdoors, plus Winter fast approaching.

During these lockdowns the freedom of immersing in nature and exercise, making genuine connections with new people, sharing information and encouraging one another, has been very therapeutic.

TARACC’s Keep Walking group will continue to meet Saturday mornings 10:00 to 11:00 in Valentines Park, Ilford.

If you want to join us, please get in touch at info@taracc.co.uk

Farewell Summer. Be kind Autumn and Winter.

New Keep Walking Start Time

Soaking up the last of the summer rays!

The Keep Walking sessions has enabled us to maintain connections
with others and the opportunity to share how we are adapting to the ‘new normal’.

A highlight for me in August was welcoming three more people on the walks. Another was making those connections. One thing that stood out was a moment of reminiscing with another walker about our childhood memories of the Caribbean. We shared similarities in our journeys in the Caribbean and transition to the UK.

Autumn is fast approaching! It’s important that we keep our exercise up to help maintain good metabolism and circulation during the cold weather. If you didn’t manage to come on the walks this summer, it’s not too late.

Keep Walking will continue with a change to the start time from – Saturday 5th September 2020.

Keep Walking News – August 2020

It feels like nature is bursting with energy at this time of the year. The walks around the parks are one of the best ways to embrace this energy through some of the elements of nature – Earth, Air, Fire and Water.  Walking is not only good physical exercise that helps keep us fit, it is calming and healing and recommended for our mental wellbeing.

The Keep Walking group has enjoyed walks in Valentines Park throughout June and July and Wanstead Park on the last Saturday. We welcome suggestions of your favourite park that we might visit on the last Saturday.

Now the outdoor cafeteria in Valentines Park has re-opened, I’m looking forward to stopping off at the end of our walks to enjoy a beverage and chit chat.

Come on out, if you can, and enjoy these fleeting summer days.

A message from the Keep Walking Group Leader

Welcome to the Keep Walking Group.

We are reaching out to you to meet up once a week for a walk around Valentines Park.

With everyone in ‘lockdown’ for so long, there’s no better time than now to get out and get moving.

The weather is great, the fresh air and scenery are uplifting and good for our mental health.

All you need is a good pair of trainers or walking shoes and a bottle of water.

If you have any concerns about your physical or other health issues please get advice from your GP before coming on the walks.

We aim to follow Government’s guidelines on social distancing by walking in pairs and keeping two metres apart.

See you soon,

Eulene.
